The Nigerian Council of Physicians of Natural Medicine came into being in the year 1993 and got registered with Corporate Affairs Commission with registration number 10,022 in 1994. The Council is being ruled by the constitution of the council. The council have among other aims and objectives in article 2 N0 2 and 17 of the constitution which states Establishing Training. National College of Natural Medicine Abuja Centre

The purpose of the college is to retrain practitioners.

 

MEMBERSHIP
There are five grades of membership as follows:
 

1. AFFILIATED MEMBERS: This consist mainly of health shop proprietors, Non-Physicians involved in the Natural Health Trade, Supporters of Natural Medicine, Members of Relevant Pressure Groups and Members of Professions Supplementary to Medicine, health workers, traditional birth attendants, traditional healers.
 

2. ASSOCIATE MEMBERS: This consist of natural health Practitioners with a minimum of W.A.S.C in G.C.E (Ordinary Level), who have trained in Natural Medicine and are involved in full time practice for up to five years. Evidence of training certificates and diplomas must be presented for scrutiny.
 

3. FULL MEMBERS: Qualified Doctors with relevant University Education, Degrees and Professional Diplomas in any aspect of Natural Medicine Physiotherapist, Dentists, Pharmacists, Medical Laboratory Scientists etc.
 

 

Investiture as Fellow

  4. FELLOWSHIP: This is a special honor bestowed on well established Physicians in Natural Medicine, based on contribution through long services to humanity, research findings, inventions and innovations. Scientific discoveries and breakthrough, distinguished and exemplary practice in Natural Medicine.
 

5. MERIT AWARD/ HONOURARY FELLOWSHIP: This is awarded to deserving members of the lay public, as identified on recommendation by members. Nominations for Honorary Fellowship must be backed with full Curriculum Vitae on the achievement of the Nominee in terms of qualification, and service to humanity. An Honorary fellowship is equivalent to Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Natural Science). This award must be subject to the approval of the Entire Membership.

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a holistic form of medicine whose principles are even older than Hippocates. It seeks to cure in accordance with natural laws of healing and uses medicines made from natural substances: animal, vegetable, and mineral. The Principles of Homeopathy are: The Laws of Similars, The Law of Proving.

 

What is Chiropractic Medicine?

It is the science based on relationship between the body structure and function. It is the study of how the nervous system affects the body system and organization. The science of chiropractic is one of diagnostic evaluation and of clinical trials and research. Chiropractic philosophy is based upon the body innate intelligence, that is, the wisdom of the body to heal itself. Chiropractic medicine is effective in the management of; Rheumatism, Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), Arthritis of all forms, Spondylosis, Fibromyalgia, Back pain, Stroke, Muscle strain and sprain, Tennis elbow, Herniated disc, Bell palsy, Migraine headache, Carpal tunnel syndrome, Sciatica etc.

 

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathy Medicine is a distinctive natural approach to health and healing that recognizes the integrity of the whole person. Naturopathy medicine is a form of complementary and alternative medicine that deals with the use of natural substances such as plants, water, fruits, mineral substances to effect a cure. Naturopathy practice is based on the belief that the body has the ability to heal itself. The following conditions can be managed by naturopathy; Diabetes, Arthritis, Constipation, Anaemia, Asthma, Diarrhea, Headache and migraines, Insomnia, Psoriaris, Alzheimer disease etc.

 

What is Ostoepathy Medicine?

Osteopathy medicine is a form of drug free non invasive holistic manual medicine that focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal frame work, which includes the joints, muscles and spine. The philosophy of osteopathy is what sets it apart from other medical disciplines. Osteopaths believe the body structure and function are closely related and interdependent. The human body is an integrated functional unit and for the body to work well, its structure must also work well. Structure governs function. The following conditions can be managed; Lordosis, Lumbago, Sciatica, Arthritis, Sprain, Tennis elbow, Shin splints, Osteophytes, Spondylosis, Ankylos etc.

 

What is Acupuncture Medicine?

Acupuncture is a Chinese oriented medical practice that deals with the use of specific filiform needles on selected points (acu points) in the body to achieve the following; to procure anesthesia for surgery, to treat diabetes, to treat migraine headache, to mediate all forms of pain, high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, stroke, goitre etc.

 

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is done at least one annually with must attend of each member at least once a year
